Who keeps your details
Quiet Falcon Labs 1-5-16 Shinden-cho, Nagano, Nagano 380-0835, Japan +81 26-373-8465 info@quiet-falcon-labs.comWhy this page is short on jargon
A visit to Quiet Falcon Labs starts with a few lines of writing, and those lines are the only personal information this website is built to receive. This policy explains what happens to them, in step with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). We run a small mews and a small inbox, so what we hold is small too, and we would like you to be able to read all of it in a few minutes.
1. What reaches us through this website
- The enquiry form. Your name and email address are required. A preferred date, a group size, whether children will come, a subject line and a free-text message are optional, and we only see what you type.
- Our email correspondence. When we answer, the thread lives in our mailbox. If you attach photographs of your birds or your mews so that we can prepare a consultation, those arrive with it.
- One entry in your browser. The cookie banner stores your consent choice under the name cookie_consent in your own browser (localStorage). It never leaves your device.
- Ordinary server records. Whoever hosts the website may log the address of the page requested, the time and the browser type, as every web host does. We do not read those logs for marketing.
Nothing is collected from third parties, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
2. What we deliberately leave out
- There are no accounts, passwords or newsletters on this website.
- No payment card details are requested here. Payment is arranged by email once a session has been agreed.
- At the date above, no analytics or advertising tags are loaded by any page. The consent switches are in place so that your choice is respected if that ever changes, and we would update this policy first.
- We do not ask for the names or birth dates of children. The form only asks whether children will attend, so we can plan a calmer session for the birds.
3. How we use what you send
- To answer you personally, usually within two working days.
- To agree a date and place for an encounter, a bird survey or a care consultation, and to prepare the field card, species list or care report you take home.
- To follow up a consultation with the call we promise a month later.
- To keep a short record of what was agreed, so that a repeat visit in another season can pick up where the last one stopped.
We use your information for these purposes only. If we wish to use it for something else, we will ask first.
4. Who else may see it
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not pass it on for marketing. It can reach our email and website hosting providers because they carry the messages and serve the pages. If a consultation uncovers a health concern in a bird, we may suggest an avian veterinarian, but we introduce you rather than sending anything on, and we share details with a vet only if you tell us to. We disclose information to public authorities only where a law requires it.
Some of our providers may store data outside Japan. When that is the case, we choose providers that describe how they protect it, and we will tell you which provider is involved if you ask.
5. How long it stays
An enquiry that never becomes a booking is deleted after a reasonable time, normally within about a year of our last message. For a visit that did take place, we keep the correspondence and the report we wrote for as long as the follow-up call and any repeat visit may need it, and as long as record-keeping rules ask. Then we delete it or keep only what is necessary. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.
6. How we look after it
- Only the people who answer enquiries open your messages.
- Our mailbox and devices are protected with passwords and kept up to date.
- We do not paste enquiries into public documents or shared notebooks.
- If a leak ever affected your information, we would tell you and the authority concerned as the law requires.
7. Your rights under the APPI
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information of yours we hold, and give you a copy;
- correct or complete it if it is wrong;
- stop using it, or delete it, where the law gives you that right;
- stop passing it to others, if we ever do.
Write to info@quiet-falcon-labs.com, call +81 26-373-8465, or use the contact page. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, and we reply to rights requests without undue delay.
8. If you are not satisfied
Please tell us first, so that we can put it right. You may also contact Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission (Kojin Joho Hogo Iinkai).
Opting out, in practice
You can use almost everything on this site without giving us a single detail. Reading the pages, the birds and the prices needs no form. If you do write to us and later change your mind:
- tell us by email or phone and we will delete the thread;
- clear this site’s data in your browser to remove the stored cookie choice (see the Cookie Policy);
- simply do not use the form, and phone or write to us directly instead.
9. When this policy changes
If we change the way we handle information, we will revise this page and its date before the change takes effect. Material changes will also be mentioned in our reply to anyone who has an open conversation with us.
